About the series

The Lazy Brain is a picture-book series about Emmeline, an imaginative eight-year-old, and the little pink voice in her head who wants the fun thing, the easy thing or just five more minutes. Each story takes one everyday struggle — lotion time, bedtime, a messy morning, saying sorry — and shows children that hard things get easier one small step at a time. The books are warm, funny and honest about big feelings, and they give parents a shared language: when the Lazy Brain pipes up at home, everyone knows exactly who is talking.

About the author

Ella Tan writes warm, funny picture books about the wonderfully complicated business of growing up. The Lazy Brain began at her own breakfast table, when bedtime battles and lost shoes with her daughter Emma turned into the story of a little voice in a child's head — one who wants the fun thing, the easy thing, or just five more minutes. Her stories help children aged 4–8 notice what their brains are asking for, laugh about it and find their own way through big feelings. She publishes the series under Love's Reckoning. When she isn't writing, she is collecting new stories from the small person who started it all.
